Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Comber, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category, must be held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, you are required to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any other requirements will be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- You can make reservations via our website, over the phone, or by visiting our Dartford office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. The complete payment and security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same state it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up, as refueling charges will apply for any discrepancies. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. We offer additional insurance options that can help minimize your financial liability, and we encourage you to review these closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Activities such as racing, off-roading, or any risky behavior are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is also forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Ensure that usage aligns with the vehicle's intended purpose and adhere to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside of the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Violating these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Comber Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Jurisdiction
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
